E-examiner S-student
E: Thank you. So, we’ve been talking about an intelligent person and I’d like to discuss with you one or two more questions related to this. Let’s begin with, first of all, smart people. So, are smart people happier than others?
S: Honestly, I don’t think so because normally smart people
tend to see different perspectives than normal people, especially when those
with savant syndrome, or people with above, or higher or above intelligence.
They would naturally see things that normal people do not, or they will see patterns that people do not. They might think, they might not even get what
we are talking about. For example, I have a friend who has a bit of, sense of that savant syndrome. He is somewhat unable to understand jokes, or unable to
understand people emotions. So, I would say that smart people
are not necessarily happier than normal people.
E: So, in your opinion, are smart people sometimes quite selfish?
S: I do not really think so, because even if they’re smart,
I don’t really think that they’re in, innecessarily selfish because
it doesn’t really correlate. First of all, it doesn’t really correlate at all.
Second of all, most smart people would want to use their knowledge
or their inte, intelligent, their intelligence for the good, for the
greater good. So, I do not necessarily believe that they are ne, in terms
‘selfish’, or only for their own gains. One major example would be,
s, let’s say, Anderson. Even if he’s smart or even if he is someone who
is very intelligent, he doesn’t really just make stuff for his own use.
He actually gives it to all. So, in my own personal view, this,
I don’t think that s, smart people are actually selfish.
E: OK. Thank you. Why do you think some children are more intelligent than others?
S: I think one of the major reasons is their willingness to read and learn,
because many children in their own, in their early years of life,
they would simply rather play, or they would simply rather hang out with
their friends, but they won’t actually be willing to sit down and
learn or read or acquired information. Well, not all of the
children. Some of them might actually sit down and listen
or absorb the surroundings. So, I think that it is why some children
are actually smarter than other speak, or some children are necessarily
smarter than their peers because they are willing to put in the effort.
They are willing to sit down, read more, understand more, and learn
about their surroundings. So, I think that is one of the main reasons
why some children are necessarily smarter than their own peers.
E: Do you think that by being intelligent it’s easier to be successful?
S: Not necessary, because even if one person is intelligent,
if he is not hardworking or diligent enough, he won’t, he, he or
she won’t even, be successful because h, having the intelligence
and having the in, de, determination or the diligence to do something is
different. Even if you’re smart, but if you’re lazy, you won’t be able to
accomplish much in society. You have to have both. You have to actually
have a form of determination. You have to be diligent enough
and you have to be willing to take risks. So, it doesn’t really mean
that if you have intelligence, you will actually succeed. S, so, you have to,
I would say that having intelligence does not necessarily mean you will
succeed in life.
E: Who plays the biggest role in a child’s development, the teacher or the parent?
S: If I’m honest, I would say the parent, because parents
could be considered as a chil, a child’s most significant other.
They are the first natural teacher that a, a child {lip smacking noise}
or children actually begin, or actually fits. So, naturally,
I think, an, naturally, I believe that parents are a child’s first teacher
and the one that actually influences them the most, because teachers
only influence them in the classroom, but a parent actually stays with them
and nurtures them from d, every day, from daily life, and
actually stays with them until they actually pass away. So, in a sense
I believe a parent is much more influential than the teacher.
E: OK, thank you very much. That’s the end of the speaking test.
