E-examiner S-student Play
E: So, do you work or are you a student?
S: I’m currently a fourth-year student studying English Literature at XX University. And I will be starting my work soon, after a few months, as a tutorial teacher in Tuen Mun.

E: Why did you choose to study this subject?
S: One of the f, main reasons why I chose to study English ture, literature, is because I actually adore reading. I have been a big fan of books ever since I was a little boy. And to this very day, I still collect many, many books. I love reading and I want to study a lot more about how people use writing and their {lip smacking noise} techniques and, sus, and their own personal experiences, and how they write about it, and {noise} {lip smacking noise} how they use their own techniques to tell stories, which is one the main reasons why I want to study English Literature.

E: Now let’s move on to talk about picnics. Did you go on picnics when you were a child?
S: Sadly no, because my parents are always t, working, so I didn’t have any chance to go to any picnics. I would, however, want to go on a picnic by myself when I have the free time. Sadly, I wasn’t able to go to any picnics when I was a little boy.

E: How often do you go on picnics now?
S: {lip smacking noise} About, when, about once a month, I would say, because of the pandemic, I wasn’t able to go around much often. And since I went to took the vaccine a few weeks ago, so I wasn’t able to go much often as well. But if I have the time, I would actually spend one day, every month, to go on the picnic with one of my friends, got and relax a bit, and have fun in the countryside.

E: Oh, what is, what is the difference between having a picnic and cooking at home?
S: Well, the main difference is… I would say picnicing outside doesn’t really mean I have to cook outside because I can simply bring something already cooked or done, and I could simply just go outside and eat. But if I cook at home, it would be much of a disaster because I won’t be able to cook well. If I go on a picnic, I actually can just simply bring food I’ve brought, I bought or brought from a store, and I can just simply eat or relax. But at home, if I am cooking, it would be much tougher, and I would have to clean up after that. So, it would actually be much more of a disaster if I cook, or if I cook at home.

E: Do people in your country like to go on picnics?
S: I would say no, because d, most of my, most of Hong Kong people are actually workaholics in, in my personal view, because most of them are actually very busy with other studies or their work. So, they won’t be actually having time to go on picnics. Even so, even if they do have time, they would re, they would rather stay at home and relax because after a day of working hard, or even after a week of working hard, they won’t even have the energy, or even have the, {lip smacking noise} I would say, the mental capacity to go outside and enjoy the countryside. They will simply rather stay at home, sleep, or {lip smacking noise} eat. So, I would say it is not common for them to go out on picnics at all.

E: Now let’s talk about sports. Sports, do you like sports?
S: I actually do. I often play badminton with my friends. And if I have the time, or if the weather isn’t cold enough, isn’t too cold, I would actually go swimming. So, I would say, I am, I am OK with sports.

E: Do you watch sports matches?
S: Once in a while, I remember watching the World Cups series, and when Manchester United played against Manchester City. I only watched a few matches because, mainly because the timing. Because most matches actually happen late at night and since I s, often work late at night, so I have some time to watch. But from time to time, because I’m just too tired, I can’t really watch all the matches. So, from time to time, I’ll watch one or two.

E: What is your favorite sport?
S: My favorite sport would have to be badminton. I was introduced to this particular sport by one of my oldest friends in secondary school. And when I started playing this particular sport, I actually felt it was actually quite easy. And slowly I gain, I got the hang of it, and then I began to play this particular sport for quite a while. {lip smacking noise} I even got into the school team once. So, I will say this is my favorite sport because it actually gave me the confidence to work harder in a sense because I was a little bit timid, or I would say I wasn’t really willing to work hard for something. So, I think this particular sport actually gain, help me gain my grounding as well as helped me make more friends. So, I would say this is my favorite sport.
