E: Now, I am going to give you a topic. And I’d like you to talk about it for one to two minutes. Before you talk, you will have one minute to think about what you’re going to say. You can make some notes if you wish. Do you understand?
S: Yes.

E: So, I’d like you to describe a time when you first talked in a foreign language. … Alright, remember, you have one to two minutes for this. So, don’t worry if I stop you. I will tell you when the time is up. Can you start {Um} speaking now, please? {Yes}Thanks.
S: OK. So, when I think of the time that I first talked in a foreign language, the experience of visiting Korea a few years ago immediately popped up to my mind. So, yeah, we went to Korea in that summer with my mother and my sister. We went to Korea because at that time me and my sister were very fond on K-Pop culture. So, we, had a trip to Korea. And so, {lip smacking noise} we visited one of the restaurants opened by an idol from a boy band, Super Junior, which was my favorite idol at that’s time. And yeah, and now, for now as well. And so, when we arrive at the restaurants, luckily, we got to see the, my, the idol’s mother in the restaurant. So, I g, g… went up to her and ask if we could take pictures together. And so, she asked me if… th, that was my {lip smacking noise} mother coming up with me. And so, I tried my best to answer her in Korean. At that time, I felt very nervous because {lip smacking noise} all I know is just a f, very little Koreans. And so… and also in Korea, in their language, there are some formal grammers that we have to use when talking to the eld, elder generations. But I k… obviously I do not know well on that. And so, I just tried my best to answer her, “Yes, that w, was, that is my mother”. And she replied me and s, telling, telling me that “Your mother is so nice that she is willing to come here with you” et cetera. And, all I can answer is just “Oh, yes, yes, yes, thank you so much, thank you so much”, all those kind of simple conversation. Although I felt very nervous and very, very scared at that time. However, it is, it was a very valuable experience to me. Yes, thank you.

E: Thank you. Do you often speak foreign languages?
S: I would say I’m… I seldom speak foreign languages. I just speak foreign languages during my Korea an, and Japanese classes. And just like what I have said before, on some special occasion when I was in overseas.
