E-examiner S-student
(7:13 – 7:50 )
E: We’ve been talking about a hobby you enjoyed when you were a child. And I’d like to discuss with you one or two more general questions related to this. Let’s consider, first of all, children’s hobbies. How do children in your country spend their free time?
S: To be honest, it is quite difficult because my
childhood time and now is completely different I c, I can imagine and
then but still safter, safter and then
ens children play in the park on their own, I guess.
Yeah {Em}.
(7:50 – 8:13)
E: Do children have any other kinds of hobbies apart from playing?
S: Oh, of course they love, like video game, video console
thing so nowadays I k, in fact, I think they stay
indoor more than going outside because they can play in… in
front of tele, tele, TV is so all the time.
(8:13 – 8:18)
E: So, do they spend more time alone?
S: {lip smacking noise} I think so. {Hum}
(8:18 – 8:54)
E: So, how do you think children’s hobbies have changed compared to when, to your childhood?
S: Well, it was qu… I don’t know… quite while
ago, so when I was child, we don’t have any toys very
much in, in the house, so that’s only the way we get… we could enjoy, that’s going out, so, but nowadays it…
children’s got a lot of toys inside and then in… maybe s
parents try to have play them safely indoors so that’s
the reason.
(8:54 – 9:16)
E: Do you think parents prefer them to be indoors?
S: I think… maybe they w, want them
children to s… want children to play outside, but
wo… if they are, you know, worry about the society, that’s ke… that’s better to
watch them always with… and keep with them.
(9:16 – 9:54)
E: And sometimes there are some children who don’t have any hobbies. Why do you think that is?
S: May… maybe children are g, getting less creation now because
from the… baby they are always given, and then always
everything around them, so they don’t need to think about what it…
what to do, so that’s why I think they lose their
imagination and then… they just want to be
taught.
(9:54 – 10:33)
E: OK, let’s think about hobbies for adults. What are the advantages for an adult of having a hobby?
S: I think {lip smacking} well especially when they
are work, sometimes they
would have difficult time, but if they have hobby, they can switch off
what happen at company or hard time and then…
can refresh their mind and start with a clear mind again, so,
that’s quite good.
(10:33 – 10:51)
E: And what kind of hobbies do, do adults do?
S: I can imagine like going to sports gym and to
exercise or even drinking maybe {laughter}.
(10:51 – 11:36)
E: Some hobbies you, you do alone, and some you do as part of a group that they involve other people. What’s the difference between those types of hobbies?
S: At… it’s
{sigh} … if you do something alone, you again
stuck you… on your own, but if you do share
your hobby or your opinion to people, that’s
good to know yourself from other people, so that’s the different.
(11:36 – 11:58)
E: So, do you think there are more benefits to being with other people or being alone?
S: I think, I thinks with… in a group, that’s more benefit
yourself. Yeah, but if you have, like, project
yourself, of course that’s need… you, you need concentration.
(11:58 – 12:36)
E: And what problems might your hobby cause for other people?
S: Problem, it depends on the hobby, but
if you like, {sigh} push your opinion
or like, what you believe to other people too much, that’s…
I think people wouldn’t like just,
you need a distance. {laughing}
(11:58 – 12:36)
E: OK, thank you very much. This is the end of the speaking test.
